As in previous years, within the Ride & Stride event, competitions are held to encourage Churches and Chapels to try to gain the most sponsorship. Prize winners are usually announced at the Annual Gathering at Winkburn Hall the following year – normally in July but due to the situation with Covid this was not possible.
An ‘After Ride & Stride Party’ event was held at Winkburn Hall last Friday (17th September) and a big thank you to all those who attended. – a great night was had by all. Again thank you.
Prize winners for 2020 are:-
Churches/Chapels that have raised the largest amount in sponsorship money.
1st £75.00 – St. John’s Church, East Markham (£1,861.00)
2nd £50.00 – St. Giles Church, Edingley (£1,270.00)
3rd £25.00 – St. John’s Church, Colston Bassett (£1,020.00)
To encourage people to visit out of the way churches/Chapels and those taking part for the first time by way of points for each Church/Chapel visited.
1st £75.00 – St. John’s Church, Carlton (136 points)
2nd £50.00 – St. George in the Meadows (135 points)
3rd £25.00 – St. Giles’ Church, Edingley (129 points)
A new competition this year: take your camera and any Church/Chapel visited, take a picture and send it in with your paperwork.
1st £75 – St. James’ Church, Normanton on Soar (submitted by East Bridgford Methodist)
2nd £50 – All Saints Church, Stapleford (submitted by St Swithin’s Church, Wellow)
3rd £25 – Southwell Minster (submitted by St Giles’ Church, Balderton)
